2004/02/27 WorldForge Weekly News by: alriddoch

This is the WorldForge Weekly News for the week ending Friday the 27th February, based on what I have been working on, activity I have seen on irc, and commits to cvs.

The agenda for the MUD-dev conference in San Jose, California has been announced and it includes billing for two talks to be presented by members of the WorldForge project on their work. For more information see the MUD-dev conference website at kanga.nu where the agenda should be posted in time. James will be giving a talk on his server architecture for flexible rules development, and I will be talking about the techniques we use to model large scale worlds.

Most of my effort over the last couple of weeks has been on Atlas-C++. James is now migrating Eris to the new Atlas-C++ API, and we are taking this opportunity to refine the way the new version works. Loads of commits from James, though the new code does not yet build.

Ron Steinke has been pushing ahead with wftk and uclient development. uclient is now running and usable on both Linux and windows.

Simon has been working on his experimental environment renderer, adding clouds to his new sky rendering.

munin and zzorn have been working on their character modelling systems. Some head textures have been created from the photographs taken at LinuxTag last year, and some new models have been created for the male builder.

JohnFlux has adopted entityforge for the time being, and has worked on fixing some bugs, with some help from damien.
