2004/02/06 WorldForge Weekly News by: alriddoch

This is the WorldForge Weekly News for the week ending Friday the 6th February, based on what I have been working on, activity I have seen on irc, and commits to cvs.

I did a little more work on equator user interface, but have been restricted for time by other commitments.

There was a general push this week to get stable versions of our libraries released in preparation for a uclient release. Lots of work done on wfmath by rsteinke, and a successful release. Eris followed shortly after with some nice improvements by James. Both of these releases will probably be well suited for use by the upcoming demos at expos and conferences.

There was a lively thread on the general mailing list about how to model complex world interactions, giving lock picking as an example. Some very interesting ideas were bounced around.

Simon got to grips with the details of rendering terrain using Mercator in preparation for integrating the terrain engine into sear. Eventually got it working after a couple of very obscure issues.

nowhere seems to have been doing lots of maintenance work on the Duralosaur. Lots of cleanups and fixes committed.

munin did some great work on some more new tree models. Should be plenty of scope for making forests much better looking.
