Artist Orientation
Very rough... give me some time to mold this into shape.
- Read Introduction to WorldForge
- Read WF Orientation
- Read WF Media Standards Guide
- Figure Out which area of media interests you. One way to go about this is that you could send an email to general@worldforge.org stating your current skills, interests and things you would like to learn about.
- Figure out which game or client you're interested in creating media for. Currently our efforts revolve around creating media for our next game Mason.
- Read about the client and/or game and get in contact with the developers in that area
How To Submit Media
- Get a CVS account - you should email [cvsaccount AT worldforge.org] and send your requested username w/an encrypted password (with the salt)
- To get an Encrypted Password: Send Brenda (our IRC bot) a message saying... "/msg brenda crypt yourpasswd:Aa"
Brenda will encrypt the password for you and send you a message back saying something like...
'[brenda(~brenda@24.125.66.narf-34395)] The encrypted password is Aa3l1C3.V5slI sir.'
- email your desired username and the encrypted password to cvsaccount at worldforge.org ('Aa3l1C3.V5slI' in this case) and tell them the salt was 'Aa' (in this particular case) as well as your desired username
then you download the GPL/FDL or Public Domain Licensing Template
- Checkout the desired CVS Module (ie 'cvs co media-new') Make sure not to use any compression (the -z option) when doing checkouts or updates!
- In the music module create your own directory. So at while inside the music module you should add a directory called 'collection-yournick' and place all of your music in there. Don't mess around with the directory structure in any other module without talking to someone first!
