Overview

This section of Media Documentation covers the planning and implementation details for the WorldForge Media Photo Gallery. This new area of the web site will allow for the many reference images, screen shots and other media to be browsed, searched and commented on by different categories.

Many excellent Open Source photo galleries exist and we looked at a lot of them, but I made the decision to prototype some scripts because of a couple key points:

• The majority of the existing galleries use PHP - something that's hard to do in our Zope environment
• All of them would have required tweaking to add the media development categories and items we require
• We have many WorldForge coders who really want to help, but find it daunting to jump into one of the existing teams

So, in the Open Source tradition of "I can do that *better*" here is an outline of what I think we need

Now this is all tentative and it also doesn't include any of zzorn's excellant notes that he sent to me so take it all with a pinch of salt and give us some constructive feedback please.
