Herbiforge version 0.1.0 has been released and is now available from the WorldForge download site.
This release is the first public release of herbiforge, and contains a fully working editor along with a number of examples.
Demitar has been incredibly busy, getting this release to compile and run properly under windows, and we are pleased to include a windows install file with this release.
This is a development release, as the editor will likely have many bugs. However, it should be fully usable. The underlying API is also expected to change with future releases, and will eventually be split into it's own library. Testing is recommended and appreciated.
Features in this version:
- The parser has been completely rewritten using bison and yacc and should be much faster than before.
- Support for .3ds models and .png texture maps has been added.
- Completely working document interface with the ability to save, create new lsystems.
- Ability to specify a seed for the random generator, or generate a random seed.
- Ability to edit an lsystem and regenerate it's geometry without changing the seeds, which greatly increases an artists ability to tweak.
- A much improved 3D interface which automatically re-centers the tree whenever a new file is opened; the rotation is still a hack, but is much more natural for basic tree manipulations, and should allow one to zoom up close to any part of the tree.
- The class API for generating lsystems and obtaining a tree structure with there geometry has been completely rewritten and should be close to ready for a release as it's own library.
This version will soon be able to be downloaded from the sourceforge download site.
