Ptah Map Editor
Introduction
Ptah is a map editor. When I'm feeling particularly ambitious I call it a "World Builder". At this stage in the game it's really just a polygon editor that saves to a peculiar XML based format called BLADE. My objectives for Ptah are:
- Deliver World Forge from format limbo.
- Be cross platform and accessible.
- Be intuitive.

Ptah rewrite has officially started!
I should probably start all over, but I have a lot of work invested in the GUI. I'll hack at it until things run with the new COAL API and then refactor until it's actually good. :-) So much for those concrete goals.
Happy Turkey Day!

Just mumbling to myself really...
Some goals, in no particular order.
- Scrap the CommandProcessor altogether.
- Decouple certain object management functions (mainly searches) from the GUI.
- Now that CoalComponent is a base class for all objects, MapNode is no longer needed. Get rid of it!

Undo Functions Undone
I was in the middle of a mail to client@ asking about the usefullness of undo functionality when I decided that the feature as nifty as it is was not worth the cost to implement. I may create a class (like the old CommandProcessor) that will mediate between the editor and the databases. This will keep me from cutting and pasting a lot and help keep the option open for 'undoing' later.

The End of the Road
As determined as I was to create something usefull, I think that the best course of action at this point is to stop any development of Ptah under the old COAL API, and resume when a new version of the lib is released. Ptah's design seems completely misguided right now especially in light of what COAL's new architecture will make possible. During this period of dormancy I will try to define some concrete goals for Ptah Phase II . ;-)
I'll leave the screen shots up for anyone who's curious. Here's a look at Ptah running under Windows 2000 and Ptah under Linux via Enlightenment.

Brent
