Tasks

This is a list of general client tasks that people need help with. These are tasks that are applicable among most or all of the different client applications.

Please add tasks as you think of them.

If you'd like to work on one of these tasks, please list your name and email address, and a link to where you'll be discussing your ongoing status.

Client Development

If you are undertaking one of these tasks, please edit the page it is linked to and add your e-mail address, what progress you've made, and if you would like help on it.

• Implement the Media Server
• Implement loader for packaged images (meaning several .pngs in a tar-archive)
• Create a client-side scripting system for the characters

• Develop a cache management code that does the following:
  • When the client becomes interested in a new region of the world, query the server for a list of necessary media files (and alternate/default media) for that region.
  • Gather additional media files as needed/requested
  • When a particular file is requested by the client UI, provide the file(name?) (or an alternate) to the UI.
  • On command (e.g., "free up 100MB"), purge infrequently used files from the cache.
